‘Mushroom Pan Mee’ at Pudu is one of the oldest Pan Mee stalls in KL. It’s operated by an elderly couple who have been operating the stall opposite Shaw Parade right in front of the famous Keong Kee Herbal Soup. Since they were here even before Keong Kee, customers are allowed to eat at the tables provided by Keong Kee.
All the noodle is hand cut with knife by the uncle simply because it’s faster than having to use a machine. As for the soup, it’s prepared with mainly anchovies to give it a naturally sweet and umami rich flavor. A bowl costs RM6 and also comes with rather generous portions of pork slices, mushroom and crunchy anchovies.
While it might appear normal, the taste is extraordinary thanks to the fragrance from the mushrooms and their delicious homemade chili sauce. If you are a fan of Pan Mee, this is a must try, and you should hurry before the couple calls it a day.
